The RSL
The Returned and Services League of Australia (RSL) is the largest ex-service organisation in Australia. The WA branch had a complicated website which was hard to navigate and hard to update. Information was not easily accessible to the main target audience of seniors, especially those who lacked computer skills or had vision impairments. As the central point for information on RSL branches and activities, the RSL website needed to be improved so that it was accessible to the people using it, as well as easier to manage for the people updating it.
Our approach:
- We created a more easily understood layout, with text that can be enlarged
- We used the home page to highlight important services such as Pensioner Welfare and Advocacy and more
- We build the website on the edukaCMS to facilitate ease of updates
- The sub branch details are now held in an online database which is easily updated, complete with a connection to google maps to show branch locations
- In future there is the potential to extend the database to also include details of all their members
