Improve Performance in Outlook 2007

If you are like most Eduka users, your outlook .PST or .OST files are generally very large when we upgraded to Outlook 2007 we found that we had a performance hit, with delayed response times of 20-30seconds

We understand that Microsoft has released a patch that will improve your performance.

This update fixes a problem in which a calendar item that is marked as private is opened if it is found by using the Search Desktop feature. The update also fixes performance issues that occur when you work with items in a large .pst file or .ost file.

Other Notes:

• Compact your outlook datafiles often (once every 3 months)
• Run SCANOST.EXE or SCANPST.EXE on your OST or PST file(s) to fix any errors during any upgrade or otherwise - files should be in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
• In options change your start-up folder to the in-box - this will significantly improve performace, Outlook Today takes too long to data bind
• After you install the patch you will need to reboot and when you first start Outlook you will not notice any improvement, it will improve from the second time.
